Crannaig House is a guest house in Aberfoyle that provides a peaceful and tranquil retreat amongst the beauty and splendour of the Trossachs & Queen Elizabeth National Park. Guests can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere where attention to detail and quality is provided within our beautiful, traditional Scottish country house.
Crannaig House was built in 1890 and was a former Manse. It sits within its own grounds of 2 acres on the slopes of the Menteith Hills above the charming village of Aberfoyle.
Aberfoyle itself is the gateway to the Trossachs and Queen Elizabeth National Parks and offers everything required to support the perfect getaway, whether that be a quiet stroll grabbing a ‘flat white’ or planning a 150km gravel bike ride, or perhaps a spot of fishing on the river Forth that flows through the village, there is so much to do here.
We are an adults only guesthouse, and offer four letting rooms at Crannaig House. All rooms feature either a king size or super king bed with quality bedding, and either have stunning southerly views to distant hills, or fabulous views of our very private garden.
Each room has its own Nespresso coffee machine and tea making facilities to satisfy the coffee and tea lovers amongst you, Sky/Freeview TV, hairdryers, complimentary refreshments and quality bathroom facilities. Good WIFI extends across all areas of the house and its use is obviously free to our guests.
We have just over 2 acres of gardens, which is a mixture of lawns and wooded areas. We have regular visits by red squirrels and pine martens, and indeed have introduced nest boxes for the former as well as feeding stations to give you the best chance of seeing them.
Our gardens have direct access to the gravel bike trails that Aberfoyle is famous for and we have secure storage for bikes, plus a drying room for your return, prior to a quick visit to our small ‘waterhole’ for liquid refreshments!
Free, secure parking is provided and there is an EV charging point for extra peace of mind. For those arriving on motorbike/pushbike, we can provide indoor parking for additional peace of mind. Please do let us know if you are travelling this way, so we can prepare space for your arrival.
As well as your bedroom, we also provide a guest lounge, which is a space you can relax, in front of a log burner, and make use of the games we have provided, including bar billiards, (a great game for those that can remember!) This room also makes the perfect place to enjoy a pre-dinner drink, meet your fellow guests or just simply chill and read a book.
We provide optional evening meals and these are served in the conservatory which offers more lovely views across the hills and garden.
This room is also used to serve breakfast.
We provide evening meals on a ‘plat de jour’ basis. All of our meals are prepared each day, as we feel this is the best way to ensure quality. Seasonal produce is used, sourced as locally as possible, prepared to high standards and served with care and attention.
